The Schiff family has served Columbus, Ohio since the early 1900’s when Scott Schiff’s grandfather and uncle founded the Schiff Shoe Company. Decades later, Scott Schiff chose to stay in Columbus and build his law practice in the hometown he loves. The same characteristics that led to the growth of that law practice—commitment to the community, hard work, and perseverance– fueled a successful real estate business, as well.

The Schiff Real Estate Company was founded more than 30 years ago by Scott Schiff as he began looking for opportunities beyond the legal realm. Guided by his values and operating principles of honesty and fair play, he began investing in real estate properties. His first purchase in 1985 was the well known Grill and Skillet, on Main Street in East Columbus. Schiff held on to that property for more than three decades, finally selling it just last year. He believed then – and still does today – that when it comes to real estate, location is the key to success.

Over the years The Schiff Real Estate Company has developed into a family business. Today Scott’s son, Jared, oversees day-to-day operations, with his father providing the kind of expertise and oversight that can only come from a proven track record. Scott’s eldest son, Zach Schiff, also helps develop existing and future real estate projects as part of the family team. With an eye on managed growth, The Schiff Real Estate Company has continued to expand its holdings in The Ohio State University area.

The Schiff Real Estate Company is one of the largest owners of commercial property on the Ohio State University campus. Scott Schiff was one of the first developers to bring national retailers to the campus area. Recognizing that campus area is a proven entity, Schiff continuously adds both commercial and residential properties to its growing portfolio there. Projects in Grandview and the Short North have been tremendously successful as well.
